Welcome to Virginia’s Statewide Esthetician Association!  Board Meeting Minutes  January 2009 Nell Strecker, Laura Todd, Chris Werne Discussion of VSASCP plans for the new house and senate bill to reopen grandfathering.  Best approach is for language to read all those who qualified prior to 7/1/08 and close it by 7/30/09. October 22, 2007 The founding Board members of the Virginia State Association of Skin Care Professionals met on October 22, 2007. Members Present:  Laura Todd – Executive Director                                Nell Streker                               Christine Gordon                               Christine Werne Members Absent:  April Coleman                                Jessica Olsen Guest: The purpose of the meeting was to begin formulating our board structure, mission statement and by-laws. There was discussion in reference to incorporation. It was summarily decided that each founding member would remain as the Advisory Board. Committees were formed and Chairman and Co-Chairman designated.  The Chairman of each committee will report to the board. Committees, Chairman and Co-Chairman are as follows: Membership Committee             Chairman Nell Streker             Co-Chairman Laura Todd Legislative and Regulatory Liaison Committee             Chairman Christine Gordon             Co-Chairman Event Coordination Committee             Chairman Laura Todd             Co-Chairman Minutes and Communication Committee             Chairman Christine Werne             Co-Chairman Jessica Olsen Education Committee             Chairman Mickey Huggard             Co-Chairman Laura Todd Scope and Practice Committee             Chairman April Coleman             Co-Chairman Membership application forms will be created by Nell Streker with proposed availability January, 2008. The inception of Association membership fees were proposed with consensus.  The Association website will be the responsibility of Laura Todd.  Recommendations were made for the website to include a list of members, links to forms, a schedule of events, FAQ’s and a forum section. The proposed Mission Statement continues to be a work in progress.  A general consensus was that the Association is a clearing house of information for the general public and the licensed skin care professional in the State of Virginia where all Esthetics related professionals have a voice.  We shall act as liaison to the public with regard to health and safety issues.  In addition, we will work to promote the practice of Esthetics as well as education in future industry trends. The by-laws will be written and a proposal was made to include an ethics clause. A proposal was made for a conference in early 2008 and that a class for sanitation is included.  The VSASCP would like to offer non-product or non-procedure specific courses to assist estheticians that may need updated information. VSASCP would like to partner with vendors to further educations as well. A proposal was made that the Association support a new Laser Technician Bill (previously HB1399) with unanimous consensus.
